If I ever did a “Top 5 scenes wherein your heart breaks for Caprica” picspam, this would be #1. I love this entire episode and the sex/torture scenes ranks as one of my favorites because the juxtaposition and the exposition in these scenes? idk, the geek in me flails and wants to analyse and meta it to death. Anyway.

This has to be one of the worst ways to get an “I love you” ever. And you have to feel for both of them: Gaius, because he’s getting tortured and he’s half-delirious; Caprica because she’s watching him getting tortured and she doesn’t want him to be in pain and she’s hurting as well. Then D’anna asks that question and Caprica sounds so broken and Gaius says, “I love you” it seems, to comfort her, or to forgive her for her part in the torture (or y’know, to the Six in his head, but let’s not go there). And Caprica looks more torn than ever and just guh.
